Aylus Networks and Comneon Successfully Complete Interoperability of Rich Communication Services

Joint effort by two partners to help commercially realize the RCS vision

09/23/2009 — Westford, MA and Nuernberg, Germany - Aylus Networks, Inc., the provider of real-time multimedia sharing solutions for mobile networks - and Comneon GmbH, a leading supplier of protocol stack and IP-Multimedia System (IMS) client software, today announced successful completion of interoperability testing between Comneon's Rich Communication Suite (RCS) client and Aylus' RCS infrastructure.

The effort was conducted between Comneon's facility using a Windows Mobile version of the Comneon RCS client and Aylus' Westford facility where it maintains a hosted server environment for third party testing and validation. The content sharing use cases, as tested between the two companies, follow the specifications set forth by the Rich Communication Suite initiative within GSMA. Both Aylus and Comneon are active members of the GSM Association.

This effort validates the increasing standardization around video and content sharing services, and helps to create a turn-key offering for customers interested in advanced rich communication services delivered through IMS. Aylus and Comneon plan to continue periodic interoperability testing, both to validate the advances in RCS specifications and to maintain a ready commercial offering for their respective customers.

"We are very pleased to be working with Aylus to verify interoperability and deliver advanced, market-ready RCS services", said Hartmut Schittko, Director of Marketing for Comneon in North America. "Pairwise, testing of this sort not only validates the hard work put in by both sides, but also helps in achieving the RCS vision of a global, interoperable community of devices and equipment across networks."

"Aylus infrastructure is capable of offering rich communication services in both pre-IMS and IMS configurations", said Aashu Virmani, Head of Marketing for Aylus. "End-to-end interoperability efforts with partners, such as Comneon, get us closer to commercially realizing the RCS solution. Being open to the standards is one of Aylus' core principles, and our participation in the interoperability testing and in the standards process like GSMA attest to our open philosophy".
