The Aylus management team is made up of seasoned technologists and business leaders in the wireless and telecommunications industries, with a successful history in working with global service provider networks. The Aylus team possesses a unique blend of service provider, traditional supplier, and startup experience along with technical development expertise for platforms, applications and handsets.

Shamim Naqvi, Ph.D. Founder and CEO, Member of the Board of Directors

Shamim Naqvi

Shamim Naqvi founded Aylus Networks with the vision to change the way people communicate in emerging wireless networks by enabling subscribers to share multimedia in real-time during voice conversations.

Shamim is a well-known industry visionary and technology entrepreneur. Prior to founding Aylus, he was co-founder and chairman of Winphoria Networks, a Cellular Push-to-Talk and wireless SoftSwitch company now part of Motorola Corporation. Previously, Shamim was Vice President of Software Research at Lucent Bell Labs and co-pioneer of the revolutionary SoftSwitch technology for wireline and wireless networks.

Prior to Lucent, Shamim was the Chief Scientist and Chief Technology Officer for the Internet Business unit at Bellcore (Telcordia), where he was responsible for some of the industry's earliest e-commerce technologies such as Internet Advertising Servers, Billing for Micro-Transactions and Streaming Multimedia content. Before his post at Bellcore, Shamim was the Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Logical Information Machines. Shamim has also held executive management positions at Microelectronics and Computer Technology Corporation and AT&T Bell Labs.

Shamim has authored dozens of patents with dozens more under review in wireless and wireline technologies. Shamim is a distinguished speaker, and has presented and instructed at major universities around the globe, including MIT, Stanford, University of Pennsylvania, Rutgers, and in Europe. Shamim is a graduate of Cambridge University and Northwestern University in Illinois.

David Ahee, Vice President, Worldwide Sales

David Ahee

David Ahee brings 17 years of sales and sales management experience in working with wireless and wireline operators worldwide to Aylus Networks.

David joined Aylus from Auspice Corp. where he served as Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Business Development. Previously, David served as Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Business Development at ThinkEngine Networks where he played a key role in the acquisition of the company by Cognitronics. David has also served as Vice President of Worldwide Sales at Nexsi Systems, and as Vice President of North American Sales for Unisphere Networks (now part of Juniper Networks), where he grew revenues from zero to $60 million. Earlier, David was with Ascend Communications, Newbridge Networks, and ROLM.

David holds a BS in Marketing with high honors from Wayne State University.

Prasad Dorbala, Vice President, Engineering

Prasad Dorbala

Prasad Dorbala brings 20 years software engineering experience to Aylus in the broadband networking, cable, and telecommunications industries.

Prasad joined Aylus from Comcast Corporation, where he served as Senior Director of Advanced Engineering and led the architecture group responsible for deployment of VoIP and OSS/BSS for video communications. Prior to Comcast, Prasad was with Narad Networks as Vice President of Software Engineering.

Previously, Prasad held various engineering management positions at Cisco Systems, MaxComm Technologies, Lucent, and AT&T Bell Laboratories. Prasad also founded and drove the strategic direction for Relycom, a consulting firm in telecommunications.

Prasad has authored and filed more than 10 patents in broadband networking and services. Prasad holds an M.S. degree in Computer Sciences from New Jersey Institute of Technology and B.S. degree from Osmania University.

Aashu Virmani, Senior Director, Marketing

Aashu Virmani

Aashu Virmani is responsible for marketing and product direction at Aylus Networks.

Prior to Aylus, Aashu served as a director of core network strategy for Motorola, influencing and implementing the product strategy both for internal products and for the strategic acquisitions made by Motorola. Aashu came to Motorola through their acquisition of Winphoria Networks, where he was responsible for architecting and implementing parts of the Push-to-Talk solution that is currently deployed in various countries around the world.

Prior to Winphoria, Aashu was at Lucent Bell Labs where he was an architect for the Lucent SoftSwitch - a first in class of wireline VoIP switches, as well as several optical networkng products.

Aashu holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Rutgers University in New Jersey and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology.

William Kwan, Senior Director, Product Management

William Kwan

Bill Kwan brings more than 25 years experience in the management and development of networking and communication products to Aylus Networks.

Prior to joining Aylus, Bill was Director of Strategic Planning at Lucent Technologies and responsible for the planning and evolution of the IMS core, SoftSwitch and media gateway products. Bill joined Lucent through its acquisition of Telica where he served as Director of Product Management and Planning.

Previously, Bill held various executive technical management positions including Vice President of Technology at Telco Systems, CTO at Jupiter Technology, and Director of Engineering at CrossComm.

Bill holds an MS in Computer Engineering from Syracuse University and BS in Computer Science from Columbia University.

Mohan Sharma, General Manager, India Operations

Mohan Sharma

Mohan Sharma brings over 18 years of product development and management experience for Aylus Networks. Mohan has worked on networking and communication technology products for corporations both in the U.S. and India. Prior to joining Aylus, Mohan served as Director of Engineering for the Embedded Communications Computing division of Motorola in India. Prior to Motorola, Mohan was with Intel in India as Director of Systems and Software Engineering and responsible for software and hardware development. He also played a key role in establishing quality processes, developing product roadmaps, and contributing to the annual planning process.

Mohan has also worked for IBM on multi-protocol networking and microkernel based systems. Earlier, he held senior positions with 3Com and Exodus Communications. Mohan holds 5 patents in the US and has published several research papers and invention disclosures.

Mohan holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Louisiana State University.
