Aylus' focus on real-time multimedia sharing utilizing emerging wireless networks has guided the company's product direction and underlying technical architecture. Historically, there have been two approaches for offering a service over a large, interconnected set of endpoints. The internet approach has been to empower the endpoints by pushing all the intelligence into the devices and minimize intelligence and control in the network. The telephony approach, historically, has been to centralize the intelligence in the network to reduce complexity from the endpoints and have simpler devices.
Aylus is committed to enabling operators to leverage the virtues of the telephony approach in the introduction of new 3G services. To optimally deploy and maintain such premium services, operators must have these critical capabilities:
- Simple and spontaneous like any typical voice call.
Mobile subscribers will adopt a new service when it's easy to use - such as pressing a single button on the phone device to initiate a service. Aylus has ensured the MediaShare services are intuitive to use. - Broadest possible collection of mobile devices.
With any service that requires both parties to have a client on their devices, the take-off point requires that a critical mass is established. The MedisShare application platform architecture allows the maximum possible breadth of devices to interoperate, shortening the time to get to critical mass. - Compatible with varying carrier networks and systems.
Aylus designed MediaShare products and applications to be industry-standards compliant at multiple levels and integrate easily into carrier networks, billing and OSS systems, and device portfolios. Integration into non-IMS, pre-IMS and IMS environments is easy. - Manage services throughout lifecycle.
Operators must be able to continually manage, control and analyze subscriber usage and impact on the network. Monitoring media quality, establishing policy control (e.g., for roaming) and enabling "viral" distribution of applications are all part of Aylus' focus for complete lifecycle management.
