Video Applications to Deliver New Revenues
Mobile operators know that talk is cheap. The real revenue opportunities lie in new services that capitalize on the capabilities and potential of the latest generation of mobile devices. Applications based on the Aylus Media Platform help operators monetize the expanding opportunities for video services for both enterprises and consumers. At Aylus Networks, our video applications help mobile operators and service providers create and deliver the revenue-generating video services of tomorrow—on the networks of today.
VideoCast
The Aylus Video Cast application enables the broadcast of live video and audio (with or without an underlying voice call) from a mobile device to a receiving Web portal. There is wide range of enterprise applications for this service, particularly in the areas of news reporting, field services, insurance, health care, retail, public safety and real estate, to name just a few.
As an example, in the news business, it's all about getting the story first. With the Aylus VideoCast application, a reporter first on the scene of a breaking news event can stream live video to the producer's studio from his Aylus-equipped smartphone. The reporter activates the video broadcasting application on the mobile device by clicking a single button. This sets up a live video session over the mobile network between the reporter and the TV producer's Web portal in the TV station's broadcast control room.
The reporter points the mobile device's video camera at the scene and starts speaking using his Bluetooth-enabled headset. His report is streamed live to the Web portal in the TV station's broadcast control room.
Through the Web portal, the producer selects the story to broadcast live over the air at any given point in time. The producer can switch between different live feeds in real time.
Because the video broadcasting service is based on the Aylus Video Platform, operators and service providers can provide live video capabilities to their enterprise customers that include service assurance on par with operator-supplied voice services. As with operator-provided voice services, deployment options for these enterprise offerings include deployment in the enterprise's PBX, Centrex deployment or private hosting within the carrier's data center.
Video Calling
Today, more and more smartphones and other mobile devices come with front-facing cameras designed to enable video chatting or calling. For the most part, however, live video calling services are still limited to calls between particular devices. What Aylus enables is the ability to start with a voice call—between any two mobile devices, regardless of manufacturer or model—and transform that call into a two-way video session.
Video Calling uses the Aylus Video Platform, which means that the two-way video conversation is optimized and enhanced based on both the network traffic and the devices involved in the session.
Video Mail
When a video call goes unanswered, or a when user wants to leave a video message for one or more people, Aylus' Video Mail application enables that message to get to everyone. With Video Mail, users can create, review and submit video messages for upload to a portal or mail server. Video Mail can be sent to one person or to many—even to social networks. Recipients can view the video on the device of their choice, and recipients with the Aylus client on their device can also respond or reply in a variety of ways, including with a video mail message of their own.
Video Mail uses the Aylus Video Platform, which means that the video messaging is optimized and enhanced for the network and the devices involved.
